Sarah and James go to Florence

“Florence has been on our bucket list for a while, but we weren’t sure if travelling there overland was realistic or not. We definitely had some hesitations around spending so much time on the train, but we went for it anyway (mainly because of the extra Climate Perks days I could take and James could work on the trains).

We took the Eurostar from London to Paris, then travelled by high-speed train to Zurich. I enjoyed seeing the different places pass by while James worked.

We had a brief but enjoyable night in Zurich, and the next day, we crossed into Italy through the stunning Alpine scenery and made our way to Florence via Milan.

Florence is a beautiful place, we loved the museums and galleries, and ate lots of delicious Italian food!

Taking the slower route there and back made the whole trip feel like more of an adventure in itself. We both find airports/flying quite stressful, and this was a far more relaxing trip for us both.

We saw so many places along the way, and of course - knowing that we were also cutting emissions made it feel even more worthwhile!

Without the Climate Perks scheme we likely would have ended up flying, or possibly would not have even gone at all (we really don’t like airports!!!) so we’re really glad to have given this a go.

This was our first flight-free trip abroad and it’s safe to say it will not be the last!”
