Agnes' family trip to France

“We were considering whether to fly to La Rochelle or to take the ferry and drive, and the climate journey day meant that we could pick the ferry, as it allowed extra travel time, and made us feel good!

The ferry trip to France itself was really fun - our boy loved getting onto a huge ship, and staying in a cabin was an adventure! From a practical point of view, travelling by car and ferry also meant that we could bring quite a few more things than if we had taken the plane. But it also means you see and can do a lot more things on the way, the sea, birds, boats, and maybe a drink in the town you board from, so a little bit of tourism too.

Before we boarded the ferry on the way back, we enjoyed a day on the beach, and had dinner there, which is so much better than heading to an airport…!

It felt good to travel slowly, from an environmental point of view, but it was also a different kind of fun as it added experiences to our whole trip.

I can’t wait to use Climate Perks again. It was easy to claim the time back, and meant the time to travel slowly did not reduce our actual holiday time.”
