Joe and Emily explore Spain

"The journey started with us driving down to Portsmouth and getting the ferry across to Santander. The ferry took a day and a half but we loved every second of it. We caught up on reading books, playing cards, and had fun planning the rest of the road trip.

Once we arrived in Santander, we made our way to our destination via Logrono, Teruel and even visited a Sawday’s place in the Pyrenees before heading via Valencia to Murcia.

These were all places we wouldn’t have thought about visiting if we had flown.

I highly recommend exploring different modes of transport, especially ferries as you have the option to take your car with you and there is plenty to do on board.

One of our highlights was seeing the Toro de Osborne. In Spain, you’re not allowed to advertise billboards on the motorways, and the bull was originally a billboard advert for a drink. When the law was put in place, the public protested against taking down the bull so it was left up. There are only 92 of them around Spain and we only spotted 5 on our way back.

Overall, we were so grateful for the journey days. It’s such a great initiative and served us so well, we will definitely be using it again and recommend we all give it a go!"
